Pokémon GO CCT Timing Guide — Deny the Opponent's Free Fast Move

CCT (Circle Control Tactic) is an advanced Battle League technique: you time your charged move so the opponent never gets an extra 'free' fast move. Throwing a charged move resets the cooldown of the opponent's fast move, and if you tap it at the wrong moment that reset lets them squeeze in one more fast move for free. CCT means tapping your charge after a specific fast-move count — based on both fast-move lengths — so that loss becomes zero.
The mechanic — a charged move resets the opponent's fast-move cooldown
One turn in Pokémon GO is 0.5s, and fast moves are 1–5 turns long (e.g. Mud Shot 1 turn, Counter 2 turns, Volt Switch 4 turns, Incinerate 5 turns). When two Pokémon have different fast-move lengths their 'turn clocks' drift apart, and a charged move resetting the opponent's fast-move cooldown can hand them an extra fast move depending on timing. Tap the charge right when their fast move just fired (cooldown 0) and the reset does nothing — no loss.
Reading the table — after which fast move do I charge?
The table above shows, for each 'my fast-move turns × opponent fast-move turns', after how many of your fast moves you should tap the charged move to avoid giving up a free one. For example, if your fast move is 2 turns and the opponent's is 3, charge after your 1st, 4th, 7th fast move. If both are the same length (mirror) or the opponent is 1-turn, you're safe anytime. If you lose count mid-battle, the damage tick on your own Pokémon can serve as an indicator.
The formula — based on the least common multiple
The table is for memorizing, but the rule is simple. The repeat period P = opponent turns ÷ greatest-common-divisor(my turns, opponent turns), and a safe fast move recurs every period. That is why each matchup gives a clean sequence like 'odd numbers', '1·4·7' or '2·5·8'. The tool on this page runs that formula directly — just pick the matchup.
